Oh Gary.... What can I say? During Idol, you're as evil as they come... but outside the game? I've found a truly great guy who I like a lot. He's a good friend, he works his butt off to make Idol happen and he never gets the credit I think he deserves for all that.

Idol guru, he is. My life as a writer is what it is because Gary does what he does. I'm really, really grateful. Despite (and sometimes because of) his evil ways. :)

Glad I met you, glad we've known each other so long, and glad to see you having become an amazing person and with a wonderful girl who is as worthy of you as you are of her.

I can't put into words what LJ Idol did for me last year. Well, it also stressed me the hell out and replaced my tiny amount of free time with writing, but it was a lifeline when I really needed one. Thanks for that, Gary, and thanks for all the time and energy you put into making it awesome.

Gary is an evil, evil man, kicking hippies and torturing foreigners with deadlines and plot twists.
So many ripples travel out from the pebble that is LJIdol. We'll never know how many people Gary has touched, but it's pretty clear how profoundly each touch has been felt.

Well I SUPPOSE he's okay, when he's not torturing us for his own amusement and delighting in our anguished cries of pain. :P
Plethora of human rights violations aside, Gary's a rockin' d00d. He's got a finely-tuned sense of humor that's both outrageous and sly at the same time, he plays the Evil Overlord gig extremely well without *actually* being an Evil Mod [TM], and there's no telling how many wayward souls have been given an online home and guiding light thanks to Idol, even if it *is* a virtual doom fest\torture chamber\Hunger Games arena. :P

He's created a really awesome space to foster some really awesome writing, and I'm happy to celebrate it and all he's done to make it happen. Also, he's really neat. :)

The whole of Idol is such an awesome endeavor. I spent the 9+ months of Season 8 just astounded by the work Gary put into organizing and managing it and also in writing entertaining posts for the comm and monitoring the prisoners participants.
I did Idol as a self-challenge to see if I could write worthwhile original fiction, but I got so much more out of it. And bled more into it than I expected, too. ;)
Gary makes it all look easy... and it really, really isn't. Thanks for bringing your brainchild to the rest of us!

And infinitely more stressful.
Thank you, for all you do.
