I adore L. She is a Nanny Rockstar, Writer/Poet Rockstar, and Friend Rockstar. She's got a lotta Rockstar going on in her life! :)

But I especially appreciate the way she and I first encountered each other. We were both in LJ Idol, and we got into a conversation about spirituality and religion, and I discovered that such a conversation on LJ didn't need to be patronizing, one-sided, or dismissive. I think L was the first person to really engage me on the subject of faith in all its facets (the good ones and the evil ones), and from there I was able to venture into many more faith/religion/spirituality conversations with others. There is an honesty and candidness to her that I admire and love. She's lovely.

I feel like I'm just getting to know milk_and_glass, but I am really enjoying the process. :) I think being a nanny is an amazing thing. I can tell how much she cares about her little people. I love reading her thoughts and her writing.

I admire her writing. Her stories, whether fiction or non-fiction, have this amazing capacity to make me feel.

Liz - milk_and_glass - is one of my oldest and dearest LJ friends; she's been with me through some of the greatest darkness of my life, and instead of turning away, she stretched out her arms to me. She is literally one of the reasons I'm alive today ( ... )

Oh gosh, where even to start? She's so incredibly supportive. She knows when to be logical, when to be firm, when to be sympathetic. She's incredibly smart and can articulate anything from the most frivolous to the most stark and painful, evoking raw feeling from anyone who is lucky enough to read her words or hear her voice. A bastion of strength, she keeps upright through whatever life throws at her, and good lord if it hasn't been one effing thing after another in these late days.

A shining star of a person. The best of the best. Truly.

I'll say it again... I thought early on in Idol that she truly had a chance to win it all. I saw something in her writing that I knew would connect with people. She has that power behind her words to really move her audience, something that people will love. Beyond that, she's been a terrific friend when I've needed it. Always there to offer a kind word or show some support. She's someone I am truly thankful to have met this year.

Liz is an amazing person whom I look up to a lot. We met several years ago ago on LJ, and while having our personal ups and downs during all this time, Liz never failed to amaze me at how she would always handle the difficulties in her life on a level of maturity and fairness that I've rarely experienced in people. She treats everyone around her with kindness and respect, she is a strong, talented, kind, generous, and forgiving person. The only thing that I regret is that we'll probably never meet, because we live on different continents. If we were living close, I'd totally invite her over for cake and tea. Liz, I hope you have warm and peaceful Christmas holidays, it's such a pleasure and honor to be your friend!

I'm still getting to know her, but I find myself enjoying reading her perspective on things. Her role as a nanny helps me see things from that perspective, as I have a nanny of my own. Whenever I've ventured over to her other blog to read her views, I've found her to be really thought-provoking, and I really do like people who get me to think more.
