Love Post 2011

Dec 20, 2011 06:30

So, I want to do something nice for people and I'm short of money but have some time on my hands.  Thus I propose a love post.

Here's the deal: If your friend doesn’t have a thread created for them then leave a comment with their name as the title and say what you love about them. If there is a thread for somebody then reply to the original comment ( Read more... )

audience participation, love post

He is so much more than my husband; he is my shieldmate, my ally in all things, my partner in crime. He is the person who puts up with my shite, who enables my genius, and facilitates my growth as a human being. He is the person who makes me want to kiss him till he can't breathe, tickle him till he can't speak, and occasionally, bash him lovingly with a brick. He defines Nobility to me. He does not just ACT like a gentleman; he IS one. To me, to friends, to strangers, to waiters, to his boss, to his underlings, to other drivers on the road. To everyone. And yet with that courtesy he is no doormat, and he is no pushover.

I cannot laud him any better than to say that I should know him; in ten thousand just alike, I should know him at an instant. Because there is not one other just alike to him in the world. Not. One. Other.

A man I know mainly through reputation, although I had the good luck to meet him last year (of course, I didn't put two and two together until considerably /after/ the fact, and with assistance to boot). It speaks volumes, however, that someone I interacted closely with for maybe all of 20 minutes over three days rooted himself so firmly in my memory.

He is Noble and Generous, Kind and Good. Neither flashy nor showy when unneeded, but he has a quiet strength within and around him. Handsomely dashing (I can only /imagine/ what he'd look like in a good doublet and hose), gorgeous hair, a wicked smile, and a good laugh.

He has power to match his lovely bride; he is in my mind a combination of Zeus and the Oak King and for all that yet a man and even more, a gentleman. I have never met another like him, and I doubt I ever shall. And I'm so glad I have. :-)

I've always found him to be solidly grounded, practical when it's called for, and, compassionate.
