but as religion itself isn't a "problem" and you asked what problem I'd get rid of, I would say religious conflict.

No-- did I misunderstand the question? I think it's the problem that creates the most suffering, and that would improve the world most if it were gone. I think it's the root of a pretty wide array of other problems.
that's true, and you didn't misunderstand the question, i was just double-checking. I think you're right on the money... it's a pretty broad statement though, considering it's the cause of so many problems, and also, leads to wondering at what point is it not enough simply to empathize, or at what point is empathy actually damaging to a situation? i can think of a couple...
