Presidential politics

In light of today's primaries, thought we'd play a game.

Behind the cut, there is a speech (it is a tad long).  Read the speech, then reply with answers or guesses to whatever you can:

1.  Who gave the speech?
2.  Republican or Democrat?
3.  Based only on the speech, would this be someone you could or would vote for?

Note:  I have made a few edits to ( Read more... )

First I had to think... is he using a speech that he truly likes... or is it the kind of speech that he would use because of his outright hatred for the individual. Which cup is the poison in?

I'll take a guess nonetheless.

1.) JFK
2.) Dem
3.) Sure... but I could do with less of the God Rhetoric.

Interesting theory - but this was more about you, and your interpretation of the speech vs. the current situation in politics, than me.

Good guess, you got close to the right time frame.

And, since we have not yet had a President who didn't profess to be a Christian, and when you consider the time, the God rhetoric is actually pretty mild.

Then you are a dirty cheater, who probably reads the last page of the book first, and votes however your parents/husband/church tells you to....

I'll be mildly surprised if anybody knows it - I didn't. The point was to read it, and respond to the questions with your impressions from the speech alone, you know, take it in, see what you think of it, form an opinion, that sort of thing? Sheesh. Good thing you're not old enough to vote yet!

Love ya, all in fun, of course. But seriously, you should be punished, and not in a good way.

But, I do have to add, at least you were honest - it will be interesting to see who ends up posting Ike, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to tell, based on what I know of them, whether they Googled and lied or knew it.

Huckabee, really? I guess he is the least Bushie of the Republicans, in terms of foreign and domestic policy.

I guess I phrased the third question badly. I wouldn't expect anyone to vote for someone based on 1 speech. I meant more, do you like the view expressed in the speech, and what you can tell of the person who gave it. Maybe more of a "if you had to choose based on this one speech, could you vote for this person".
