That either I setup the game pretty poorly, or not too many people read my crap, or not too many give a crap about Presidential politics, or else just can't read something that long on LJ.

Anyway, the answer was:  Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in his farewall address to the nation, January 17th, 1961.  Full speech can be found at:

I can see your point about the feeling the speech gives. And Like I said earlier... I would probably have voted for him... considering the emotions stirred by the speech.

I vote for whomever I think will do the least amount of damage coupled with the intent to do the most good.

Notice I said WILL DO the least damage and INTENT to do good. There's a major difference. I don't think that politicians are abble to exact the necessary changes that are needed to right this countries wrongs.

I have said around here lately, that IF there was a candidate that actually WANTED to make a difference and HAS a plan to make those necessary changes. ANY politician that may stand to lose their jobs due to said changes will do EVERYTHING in their power to keep said changes from being made. Politicians have become self serving and self preserving. They no longer serve the will of the populous that elects them and they haven't for a very long time.

THAT is MY defeatist attitude on politics.
