This was really adorable. I loved the art from the very beginning and had, in fact, formed several stories in my head around it, but you really did it justice. More that justice, in fact - you really made it shine. The art caught my attention not just because of the really fabulous noses lines and the cool use of color, but because the artists so beautifully captured obvious affection between the two boys with humor and genuine boyish charm. And you did that, too.

I loved how boyish they actually were here. At first glance the idea of Sirius wanting to take Remus to a dance might come across as somewhat effeminate or girly. But with you it didn’t. It seemed very right and very Sirius to ask and very Remus to say no. They handled it like boys, with humor and disguised feelings. I loved this little bit: “Fine, but just remember that it’s you I want to go with.”

“Trust me Sirius you haven’t seen me dance, I’m pretty sure Lily is the safer choice here.” That seemed very in character ( ... )

Awww thanks so much for the lovely comment and rec. I'm glad you thought there was humour there, and boyish charm :D

Of course everything just worked out for Sirius, I imagine things mostly did work out his way (all the more devastating for him when they didn't go his way the way I see it). I admit Sirius had no other plan than to just try and make Remus jealous.

So cute! I love a repentant Sirius :D I also liked your Lily--she was a bit devious, too--and how she eventually got together with James. Good job! I quite enjoyed it.

I'm telling you, this is one of my favourite artwork in the Swap ever, so I'm prepared to be very severe about the fic, but THIS! Oh, I love how perfectly clueless everyone is, the poor little kids. Going to the Ball with the wrong people, trying to make each other jealous. And Sirius being so very sweet about it all. I love how Remus backs down in the end and admits that he should have just accepted Sirius's invitation in the first place. I reckon Moony isn't the sort to admit when he's wrong, and I think it's rather cute. <3 Passive-aggressive indeed!

Also: James is hilarious! I love I will transfigure your balls into solid gold and chuck you into a pit of Nifflers. In fact, I love all the dialogue here, it's witty and funny, yay!

Yay! Glad you liked it - I was pretty excited to write for the art as it was one of my favourites as well! Glad I didn't mess it up for you :D

Moony admitting he is wrong is a rare thing indeed - so rare that Sirius even stopped nuzzling Remus' neck ;)

OH MY!
I am so, so, SO honoured to think that anything I could have scribbled would inspire a fic as perfect as this.

You got them all so perfectly, and I have to say, your James is exactly the kind of James that is my favourite. The image of him glaring while chewing with his mouth open still hasn't left me haha

Your remus was so sweet, kind of reserved in all the right places and I really liked the kind of passive way that he just locked himself away when Sirius decided to take Lily. It seemed so HIM somehow.

That moment when Sirius says, "I just think it would be nice", and Remus wants to kiss him <3 ( ... )

OMG so glad you liked it, seriously I was worried that I'd ruin one of my favourite art pieces.

Remus = passive aggressive king in my head. Yay shouting at the computer screen!!! Poor Sirius gets all sorts of reminders from me that he is a posh boy , I swear I've had him know Latin, dance lessons, piano lessons, all sorts bless him!

That last line I had sort of ready pretty much from the beginning, Sirius is such a cad.

Again, I am so pleased that you liked it :D

Such a sweet, funny story. I absolutely love your James--the line about the nifflers (!), and "I'm going to kill him if that hand goes any further down" really had me laughing. And I love that even though he hates the idea of Sirius is taking Lily to the ball, he is adamant that Sirius get her a corsage--it really shows a mature and selfless side of James that nicely balances out his teenage jealousy. And speaking of teenagers, you capture them very well here; the story reminded me of scenes from a John Hughes film (and I mean that in the best possible way). The ending was very sweet, with Sirius pulling Remus outside and them finally getting their moment; it really captures the beauty and romance of the art. The dance, Remus's apology, and Sirius's lighthearted response to it, were all done very well. I really enjoyed reading this.

Thank you, I'm happy to have made you laugh :) James wants Lily to have the best - which is a nicer side of him. OMG so happy that it reminds you of a John Hughes film (in a good way, what other way could there be?!!!)

I'm glad you thought it captured the romance of the art, I was worried I'd not made it romantic enough!
