This had such beautiful rhythm, going back and forth. The touches about scarcity of wood and flags make perfect sense but gutted me nevertheless. Such wonderful grace notes about loss and going on,and the conditions under which everyone was operating, in a way that didn't make Lee seem "emo", just a guy who's lost loved ones. Well-done.

Thanks! I'm glad Lee didn't seem emo as I kind of hate overdone Leemo fics with a passion. Ha. So that's good! I'm glad the stuff about coffins and flags worked too--somehow I keep writing stories about funerals/grief on Galactica after the end of the world, not sure why, but I'm kind of fascinated by it.

This is beautiful and makes me feel so sad, even though there's hope at the end. Maybe it's because I know that canon uses her return as a smokescreen, so while Lee can start breathing again, he's only breathing in false hope. I love the letter and how its 'presence' comes full circle in an unconventional way. The words in it were simple but held the weight of possibilities.

Lovely, melancholy piece.

I just pretend that this is part of a longer AU (which I will never write but oh well) and therefore ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. And since the story is about things (or, you know, people) not really being gone, you could even imagine that canon Kara-the-pigeon will be making a return some day. If that makes sense.

This is so sad and yet so beautiful, very poetic!

I love the timeline of the story, it's going forward but also backwards, if that makes any sense. I love the letter, how that is a recurring character on its own. I love that in the end, Lee can breath again after experiencing a whole new kind of hurt even it is short lived.

Wonderful job!

Thank you! I'm particularly glad that the timeline worked for you. I have this thing where I don't like explaining things to readers and sometimes that just leaves people confused...so I'm glad that didn't happen. :)

Ah, this is such a marvelous fic, and I feel so lucky that you wrote it so perfectly for me without knowing me it all! Thank you again!

Thank you! And yes, it was a happy coincidence indeed. (late reply is late)
