A bit of limbo so I'll waffle for 10 minutes

Today I've mostly been trawling the net for suitable diets to cope with cholesterol and diabetes. Looks OK. Our diet is pretty good really. It's quite Mediterranean, which I think comes from Dave's mum being from Crete and me having spent the majority of my time lot of time as a kid with my Sicilian cousins (4 girls) and us all being taught to cook as a way of stopping us chasing round the house like lunatics.

Ask Athena what she wants for dinner and she always says "mashed potatoes" but her favourite foods are black olives, Emmenthal cheese, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots and noodles. She'll eat spaghetti and cannelloni (but only with a scientifically measured ratio of spinach to cheese!)along with pastitsio which is a Greek pasta dish a bit like lasagne but with cinnamon and flat-leaf parsley and macaroni. Krithiraki, the pasta that looks like rice goes down ok too. As long as there's loads of salad and fresh bread with it she's OK

We don't eat any beef, pork, lamb, poultry or anything like that at home and I don't have any sugar. We buy vegan soft cheese coz it's nicer (although they didn't have any in Asda last time I went - hmm) and a small piece of cheddar (about £1 in money) lasts us over a week.

The main problems are going to be coconut - which I put in curries and Thai food of course and brioche which I can't resist when Athena has it - hmm.

Ooh - I sound like a Hobbit with all this talk of food. Good job I'm not short lol

I'm trying to learn Arabic - it's really difficult and, unfortunately, phrases like
"Inti a7la min il qamar" (You're more beautiful than the moon)
don't get you very far when asking directions to the bank. Ammar is a very enthusuiastic teacher but does get side-tracked very easily.
