(no subject)

Dave's father left school at 14 or 15 and started work with no qualifications. He then joined the Fire Brigade, then the Army, then went back into the Fire Brigade. He's always written as a hobby and started doing a couple of Creative Writing classes (just the community based ones run for pensioners, unemployed and hobbyist writers like himself).

He did a 'test' to assess whether he was ready to go on to GCSE (exams usually taken at 16) or A-level (usualy taken at 18 to 'qualify' for uni). Anyway, to cut a long story short, he was advised to apply for the Postgraduate course at uni in Liverpool. His class tutor showed his work to the Head of Department there and they sent him the forms. They've now asked him to go for interview on the 23rd and the poor guy is a bit fraught. He's worried that he might not understand the stuff they might ask him.

What are they likely to ask? Are there any 'buzz words' or 'key phrases' that might be useful? I really want him to get on this course as he's worked so hard (teaching himself about grammar etc...) and is so passionate about his writing and I love him to bits.

Any help/advice I can pass on to him would be really really appreciated.
