Wow, thank you so much for writing this! I wanted to smack Mrs Holmes (seriously, she made me think of a relative of mine and I was like "how did they know?") and the menfolk were just...amazing. Totally grok the not wanting to expose a loved one to that sort of vitriol, no matter how much you want to share them with the world.

Thank you for filling my prompt!

Thanks for the prompt that produced this! :) Reading your comment that she reminds you of a relative of yours makes me shudder. No one should be subjected to anything like that. I'm thinking of writing the prequel to this - the one where John meets Mummy for the first time. I'll let you know if I do. Thanks again!

Inside at least, for sure. My mind's eye says she's quite striking on the outside - tall and aristocratic, regal bearing, you get the idea. Thanks for reading!

LOVED the ending! The Holmes boys finding true love, while the old bat rots in bigotry.

I don't know if you read any of the advice columnists, but my favourite is fond of saying that family isn't dictated by blood. I think that would apply here. Thanks so much for reading!

This was a good read. I like it when stories touch on the fact that unfortunately, there are still ignorant bigots out there. Adds a spot of realism to the work. =)

It's sad that in this day and age there are still people who would react like this, isn't it? I'm glad it worked for you!
