More Favorite Fics: Second Verse & Beautiful Broken (S/X)

Now comes a pair of favorite fics both by lit_gal. The first is "Second Verse" (http://www.litgal.org/ficbuffy.htm). I first read it at Moist & Delicious on February 16 the day after it was posted. I immediately fell in love with it. Like Athena popping out of Zeus, it appeared fully grown

Yep, I thought Second Verse was going to be a one shot deal for me. A bad experience with a beta left me questioning my ability to write, and I hesitated to even post. But you were such a wonderful support sending me my very first piece of feedback, and I got hooked.

I started writing Musical Wars almost right away. And right now I am on a bit of a honeymoon with Blair and Jim, but you know Spander and Shakatany will always be my first loves!

I didn't realize that I was the first--wow. Let that be a lesson to all--it truly pays to leave feedback. No feedback, no sequel, no "Beautiful Broken"--we'd all have been deprived of so much lovely Spander.

Dear Litgal,
Wow!!! What a ride! And this is your first fic? It's spectacular. The AU is convincing, the characters ring true and you have a plot!!! I have been into Spander for a couple of years now and my main complaint is the growing prevalence of PWPtype drabbles. You actually took the time and made the effort to plan out your story and not have the bois simply fall into bed. I mean the relationship wasn't even consumated until the final chapter. I hope you plan to continue with this AU--I'd like to know what happens when Gunn finds out about Xander's new "position" and will Spike let Xander continue working at Safari and will Cordy tell Willow and what exactly went on in Sunnydale after Xander left. I'm eager to know.
I plan to rec this fic as much as I can. Looking forward to more.
