There's a teenage girl standing in front of a shop window wearing a red dress that's not really appropriate for the middle of the day or the sidewalk.

"No. No no no," she buries her face in her hands. "I'm supposed to be helping Alice pick out everyone's clothes for the Christmas party. Here is not where I need to be ( Read more... )

He feels her. How can he not. He always has and always will -- the same with Bella. He steps up behind her, a little bit confused at the height, but he knows it's her. And he's staring at her in silence in possibly a creepy way.

For Nessie, there's no difference in her father right at this moment and the place she just left. She sees his reflection in the glass, spins on the ball of her foot and throws her arms around his neck in a hug.

"Daddy!"

So strange, but so right at the same time. He's really going to have to ask Bella about this particular growth spurt. But then in his mind growth and age, it was all relative. He wraps his arms around her, holding her in a tight embrace. "Please tell me that Alice guilted you into wearing this dress after she bought it without your permission."

She pulls away with a pout and presses her hand to his neck, showing him the major shopping trip she and Alice went on and how she picked the dress herself. After she's shown him everything she uses her words. Sure he could just read her mind and he probably is but she's used to this triple sort of communication with her father.

"Alice says I'm growing up and I ought to be able to wear a real party dress and I think it looks festive."

Her boy is doing that lurky sad thing he does when he's here and his own personal half-vampire is not. There's a lope to his walk as he crosses the street, coffee in one hand and a box under his arm. It's a sad lope, though. Super sad.

A foot hits the yellow line when he catches a whiff (and we'll pretend that's not entirely creepy for now) of a scent he's very familiar with. Jake's head cocks to the side while he scans the shops in search of Nessie. He looks very confused, being so deep in thought.

Nessie is poking through the stores, still dressed in her sequined dress. She has a box of cupcakes with her, a bottle of ginger ale and blood from the butcher shop. She wants the apartment stocked just in case...

And that's when she catches sight of him. A grin spreads across her face and she drops her bags then starts running full tilt toward him.

"JAKE!"

He hears the footsteps long before he even needs to see her coming and though he braces for impact, that coffee is flying up in the air, box tumbling off to the side as he catches her and rolls. They spring back up eventually, and he's got her in his arms, spinning around full circle.

Coffee smoffee! She goes with the roll and pop back up, arms clinging to his shoulders, nose buried in the crook of his neck. "I didn't know if you were here because you know we never know for sure. I saw Daddy and apparently I'm still little when he's from."
