Summary: Horatio studies political theory.
Author's Notes: I never write drabbles, so this is rather new to me. Written in one go and unbeta’d, and its terrible but whatever.
Kings should not be raised princes, Horatio thinks sometimes, though he cannot think of a good alternative. He devotes time to it, in quiet corners of the university library, comparing philosophers’ ideas of what makes a man what he is and what makes a child the man he will grow to be. He changes nooks every so often but they always find him in the end, determined to distract him and “remind him what the sky looks like,” Rosencrantz playfully tugging his arms as Guildenstern steals his books and hides them away, dragging him into the sun to chase after tennis balls or butterflies. Hamlet never even considered their lack of free will; Horatio searches through tears and debilitating headaches how to teach a child to know what a peasant feels, how to know and still speak as a god.
