BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A U.S. State Department employee and three employees of a security contractor were killed Monday in northern Iraq when their vehicle was hit by a suicide car bomber, a U.S. official in Baghdad said Tuesday.
Two others in the convoy were wounded.

The State Deptartment employee was working as a diplomatic security agent for the U.S. Regional Embassy Office in Mosul and was traveling with employees of North Carolina-based Blackwater Security Consulting USA.

All four were American citizens.

This is the third hostile death of a State Department employee in Iraq since sovereignty was passed in June of 2004.

They worked for my dad.   The State Department employee had just joined the foreign service; this was his first post.

Iraq is such a disaster, but I think this is only the beginning.
