Personally I think that it's not a good idea to talk politics, religion, etc. at work. Maybe he does think you want a free handout? Who knows... Usually hardcore conservatives think that way. It's the typical rich man "Fuck you, Got mine" attitude that so many of them sport these days. Who cares what he thinks about you? I know he's your boss and all, and a cool guy, but if he's going to assign some arbitrary opinion of you based on your tax bracket then he can suck a dick.
I think he wasn't necessarily trying to goad me into any direction, really. He was more likely just saying it because it was on his mind and new ventures make one excited. But I have decided that it probably would not be beneficial in any way to discuss my opinions to him. But it still irks me like crazy. He's a good enough human and I wish i could agree with his political stances, because I DO hope for him to achieve his life goals. But I feel bad that I can't support him, and also I don't want him to be in a position of power, representing me in public office. I feel torn in that regard. But I'll deal with that mixed emotion just fine. I know that in not voting for him, I'm doing the right thing for me
