ME: (putting away groceries)  Mum, did you mean to buy two pints of heavy cream?
MY MOTHER: No, I meant to buy three.  Oops. 
ME:  What do we need three pints of heavy cream for?
MOTHER:  I was going to make my cousin Barbara's caramel recipe, but I'll have a hard time without the third pint of cream.  And I forgot the paraffin, too.

I'm pretty sure that paraffin is used in a lot of store-bought candies actually. Chewy ones. I could be wrong though.

Nevertheless, I think I'm with you on this one. @_@;;;

Yeah, I think paraffin or a similar wax is in a lot of store-bought candies...I hope those tea lights are pure paraffin and not scented or otherwise inedible... o_O

Neither caramel recipe I've used involved paraffin - just getting the sugar syrup to the hard ball stage. I could look for them if you'd like.
