Chocolate Chip Cookie baking is done! Go me. Which they smell pretty fabulous - but then chocolate chip cookies can't smell anything but fabulous.:)
Anyone else have a soft spot for the movie Pitch Perfect? I've been listening to part of the soundtrack this morning. Give me those kind of harmonies and I'm gone.:)
I suspected it would happen and it did and well, shoot.
The ever reaching goal to make a show more intense, more shocking, more serious, blah, blah, blah - the powers to be get all swept up in their own drama forget a little hope, a little humor to balance out the steamrolled grim provides some contrast so you don't end up a block of numbness when a season is over. Or in this case the mid season finale.
Because there aren't any surprises. Not really. Someone or someones are going to die. (Dang it, Hershel.) You know it's going to be a character you care about because that's shocking, intense, serious whatevers - except for heaven sakes the Governor. That went on way too long and I fast-forwarded through his eps because it wasn't a surprise that he went all evil again and his journey wasn't one I was interested in. By the time they returned to the prison and Rick told Daryl about Carol - a moment that should've held a lot more impact than 'oh yeah, that's where they left off' - I'd almost lost interest.
The fight was good. They usually are. The group shows their competence and I like that. I like Rick making different choices while the Governor was incapable of it - because whatever the Governor's motives his choices were selfish ones. It certainly wasn't about the protecting the people he was with. The Governor quite honestly always whittled down for me for me as the guy that if he couldn't have the toy no one could.
Grumpiness aside, I'm still invested in what happens to the group. I like these people. With them splitting up in different ways and some rather different pairings/groups, I'm even more interested. Perhaps there will be a continuation of Carol's story and an eventual conflict between Carol and Tyreese. There's too much potential story wise to let that fade away. I hope. *crosses fingers*
But please, show. Some balance. You can have your shocking, intense moments, but shocking, intense moments lose their impact with nothing to contrast it.
And I wouldn't mind if Rick shaved. There has to be some razors in those abandoned drugstores.:)
Time for a cookie taste test. It's crucial to make sure the texture is just right, right? And they're still at that warm gooey stage.
After this weekend, sugar and I are going to maintain our distant relationship. I get so loopy on the stuff.:)
