Title: Revolting, Isn't It?
Theme: bad habit
Pairing/Characters: Hermione/Charlie
Rating: PG
Notes/Summary: Hermione tries something new.
Bad Habit
She sees him lounging casually against the Burrow's back porch, and when she slips out of the door, he doesn't indicate that he heard her. He's smoking a cigarette, the bluish smoke twirling seductively out of his mouth and around his head.
"That's not a very good habit, you know. Quite unhealthy." There's a tinge of reprimand in her tone, but when he looks at her, bemused, it disappears like the smoke he just blew out.
"I know," he tells her, nodding. "But I always figure that if I get cancer, magic can take care of it." He takes another drag, and her dark eyes watch him closely. He looks, and she can't believe she's thinking this, undeniably cool.
"Why did you start?"
He shrugs. "An old girlfriend." Then he smiles ruefully. "But it sure helps with stress back at the reserve."
"Oh."
Silence falls on the pair as Charlie continues to smoke and Hermione watches everything but him intently. She's at a loss as to what to say, even though she really wants to keep talking to Charlie.
"D'you want to give it a go?" he asks, proffering the cigarette.
"Oh!" She bites her lip and looks between Charlie's blank face to the smoke. "Oh...sure."
She clumsily takes it from his fingers, almost dropping it. "Er, sorry!" she mutters, and he smiles blandly back at her.
"Go on then," he prompts. Biting her lip again, she lifts the cigarette to them and takes a drag.
It fills her lungs with noxious smoke that makes her cough and feel faintly ill. He deftly plucks it from her fingers, takes a drag himself, and grins.
"Revolting, isn't it?"
"Quite," she manages between coughs. He chuckles and she smiles back through her ferociously watering eyes.
"That's a pity," he says carelessly, dropping the cigarette and smushing it with his boot, bringing him a lot closer to Hermione. "You looked so sexy."
Hermione tilts her head up, mouth opening in surprise, and he chuckles quietly again before turning into the house.
Title: The Note
Theme: destruction
Pairing: Hermione/Blaise
Rating: PG
Notes/Summary: It feels better to burn these kinds of notes.
This is the way it ends, not with a bang but a note.
It's simple, so simple she knows it can't be a joke.
Hermione,
I'm shagging the maid. Sorry. I hope you can get your things out by the end of the week.
Thanks,
Blaise
She blinks once, twice, three times. Then she folds it up and throws the note into the fires where it burns a cruel, slow death. She watches it and marvels at how much it resembles her marriage.
Finally finished!
