Favourites: The Idiot - a classic I should have read much earlier, it's really good and not at all an overwhelming read. Gone with the Wind - surprisingly enjoyable, Scarlett is such an antihero(ine) and Rhett's character makes much more sense in the book than in the movie, I think. I liked him much more in the book. I also got Scarlett better after reading the book and after watching the movie. But I don't see how the book is seen as a romance novel, it wasn't romantic in any way to me! The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay - such a treat! Oh how I'd love to see a well-done movie or mini-series made out of this.

Favourites, TV: Gilmore Girls - I will definitely watch the whole show again, maybe even more than once! BTW, Mr. Bunny opposes gender stereotypes again, because he watched every episode with me and loved it too. Battlestar Galactica - I still haven't seen the final season. I've been sort of saving it, it's that good. That 70's Show - I wonder why I didn't watch it when it was on. But nevermind, now I have hours of entertaining TV waiting for me! (This also seems to be the perfect show for a seriously sleep-deprived new mother watching TV at odd hours while nursing!) I love Laura Prepon as Donna <3
Favourites, movies: Der Untergang - The atmoshpere didn't let me go for days, it was seriously unsettling, and Bruno Ganz certainly deserves all the praise he got for his portrayal of Hitler. It was sometimes difficult to remember that I was watching a fictional film, not a documentary. Fingersmith - Talk about a totally surprising plot twist that turns the whole thing around! Wow! I'll also have to read Sarah Waters at some point. Finding Nemo - I loved it! Plus I watched it while I was pregnant and getting ready for parenthood, so it spoke to me that way too. I kind of identified with Nemo's dad (yes, I identified with a cartoon fish)!
I didn't buy a lot of music during 2009, but I loved Patrick Wolf's new album. The Batchelor was probably my favourite new song of the year. It's funny that I listened to it a lot last summer, when I, you know, got married. I also bought The Beatles in Stereo box set <3<3<3
A few songs that will remind me of 2009: The Batchelor by Patrick Wolf (see above), Twisted by New Kids on the Block (my favourite from The Block and was so cool live in London in Jan 09!), Death by Chocolate by Sia (I remember listening to it while taking walks during maternity leave before Babybunny was born), Forever Love (Digame) by Anna Nalick (I listened to it a lot while giving birth), This Woman's Work by Kate Bush (ditto). All very good songs! :)
