Yet more Swan Song thoughts.
I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. How did Sam "redeem" himself in this episode? And what, exactly, was he being redeemed for?
I guess the second question is the one that I so want answered. I've been reading a lot of posts and meta about this episode, trying to get some glimmer of where the writers (or should I say "Teleplay Writer" and "Newbie") were coming from, and it ain't working. I imagine that's because I've never thought Sam needed to be "redeemed" for the Nonpocalypse. I never blamed Sam for freeing Lucifer - it's everything *leading up to* freeing Lucifer that I have a problem with. To me, this is what he should have been working toward rectifying, and apparently, that has no importance with the writers. And that's wrong. Because unless Sam recognizes how he got into the whole Nonpocalypse mess to begin with, he's just going to keep repeating the same behaviours, and getting into trouble. And isn't that a part of growing up, which is what Sam keeps saying he wants? How does suicide by crappy-CGI-hole solve this? Where does the redemption come in?
I continue to be annoyed.
