this was quite... interesting. if you don't read carefully, you could almost assume that it ends, kind of happily. but it doesn't. you could still feel the angst in the air, the desparation of trying to keep yourself together, sane.

you know, a plot bunny hit me while i was reading this. instead of naruto being loud and noisy, instead, what if being reprimanded caused him to retreat into silence? how would naruto be different? i always wondered about that.

<3!

It's a good plot bunny. :D If you look at it with a more realistic angle, most kids that go through just a semblance of Naruto's childhood (neglect, bullied) tend to withdraw into themselves instead of becoming so extroverted. As a way of staying sane, they would learn to like solitude and silence, and usually strive to stay in the shadows rather than being out in the open. If the only attention you've ever gotten was negative, then wouldn't you want it taken away? The futile struggle for positive reinforcement and attention isn't worth having to deal with crap all the time.

Man. Naruto would have turned out loads different if he hadn't chosen to be noisy and annoying in order to get people's attention. :O (I mean... just look at Gaara, the poor kid. >__>)

i know realistically that kids become more introverted, than extroverted as naruto. so kishimoto-sensei did an interesting twist to that. i mean, its understandable that to make yourself more noticable, is to become loud and brash.

(it makes me think of fruits basket, and kisa... goodness she was such an adorable kid)

i love gaara. i have a thing for the redeemed. especially when they don't deny their past and their reasons... but understands that it was a way of life. and when they themselves don't change, and in fact, most of the time stay the way they are. and the only thing that changes, is their outlook life and themselves.
