Bad enough at first,
Kept inside your head,
But you'll start to hum,
And then sing instead.
And the rest of your crowd,
Will all join in real loud,
It's an earworm, after all.
It's an earworm, after all,
It's an earworm, after all,
It's an earworm, after all,
And it just won't stop.

(Songs that are not claimed within three days will be filked.) :)

You are both evil, evil people.

Fortunately, I have what is nearly an antidote to all earworms. I have memorized The Horse-tamer's Daughter. That pretty much kills earworms dead. All 15-20 minutes of it.

They are, ain't they? Still and all, we both rode down the cut to Dracula's castle of our own free will.

My anti-earworms are songs of my own devising. Not only do I have to know them by heart as a consequence of polishing them, but also my Internal Editor rises from the vasty deep to keep me focused.

The Horse-tamer's Daughter was... new to me. My word!

If you haven't found it, there's a rendition at http://www.prometheus-music.com/eli/virtual.html -- it's not the one I learned it from (I got the tape of the same name from Off-Centaur Productions, a long, long time ago), and the chorus bits are in the wrong places in at least one spot, but it gives you a feel for the length of the thing.

(http://www.cs.indiana.edu/~dasulliv/horse.html has lyrics.)

It's about 15 minutes when I sing it. I used to time how long I'd been waiting for my mom to pick me up from my late-night community college class....
