When in doubt with the Navy, stripes = Airman/Seaman/Fireman/Hospitalman/Constructionman
Chevrons=Petty Officer
and anchors/chevrons with a roundybit on top = Chief/Senior/Master Chief.
You don't need to know every rating badge and what they mean, that's just meant to make our lives easier. Don't want to go talking to that DT when you really need an HM.

"The air force is confusing because it's too simple!" "The navy is easy, stripes can only mean one of 5 things! But wait, that's only up to E3 then there's a totally different one for E4-6, and an even different one for E7-E9." Yeah only what? 8 different things to remember, as opposed to 2. In the air force you just count the stripes to see who's higher ranking, you want to know what they do, ASK, you don't have to know how to read hieroglyphics.
Lord man, I know basic navy ranks from ROTC, but all that complicated shit hell nah. You guys even wear different colored shoes based on your jobs, for form not function!!
But I digress, the air force is so simple in ensignia, it's stupid. But better than unecessary complications though I'm sure you'll disagree. XD
