so today the boy I've been dating, Mike, is up island at his parents' house. I decided to be crafty and make cookies for Valentine's Day for him and my co-workers, so I start poring over recipes. I select a tasty chocolate chip with nuts version then go to my cupboards to pull out ingredients...no flour?! I call my mom and she says yes, we probably ( Read more... )

I wish I had phat cash to travel, too. it's called negotiating with my mom so she'll pay for everything but my airfare. and finding good deals like $300 return to Costa Rica :)

Maybe I should do some "negotiating" with your mom.

I'm kidding, or am I?

happy valentine's day to you, too!

ah shite no good :P when we have that in Victoria (the American Navy comes up) there is lots of ass grabbing and street hollering, basically sketchy debauchery for the weekend. But maybe it's better in NY ;)

Ugh, I know what you mean.
Last night I had to make brownies for my co-workers, but I decided to be all fancy and get white icing for them and red crystals because on their own they're not valentines day-y enough.
So I finished baking them and went to take them out of the pan to put them on a baking tray to frost. No baking tray. I improvised, using a cutting board. The brownies fell apart in the middle.
I went to get an icing spatula from the drawer. No spatula. I improvised using a spoon, and managed to get icing all over the sofa (I also don't have a dining room table, kitchen table, or any counters to do this on).
I'm dreading the moment where I have to show people my handiwork and admit just how undomestic I am. :/

haha aww your story is even better, on the sofa. why no counters? if you have an oven couldn't you put it on top?

The one counter I do have has the dish rack on it. The stove isn't quite big enough for me to do anything that requires any degree of flailing - it's a "compact heritage" oven, meaning it's all gas and not quite big enough to cook a pizza :P
Mmmmm, vintage studio living...
