According to the Preacherman

So today I watched Michael, one of the street evangelist preachers outside of Wells Hall, doing his thing, preaching the Bible and whatnot. As of late there have been larger crowds watching because certain students are opposing him, bring bullhorns to argue him and whatnot. Personally, I do not agree with everything he says. He has a lot of good ( Read more... )

I'm not your LJ friend, I just saw your post in Japanese but I looked at your profile since I have the same Thrice track jacket that you're wearing in your icom. I really wish that people like Michael would not come to college campuses, because they're really wasting their time. People who are Christians will either agree with what they say, or agree but disagree with the delivery, and people who aren't will just argue.

It's just that it happens quite often at my school (University of Nevada), and it's really annoying. Anyway, hello.

I have no problem against preachers (in general) being on campus.

It's the way that these men preach that I disagree with. As you've noted: The topic of homosexuality also came up. It usually does. Michael likes to point the finger in that area and tell them they're going to hell.

Now, I haven't stopped and listened to them. I've glaced at the big white sign three times at most. Going to Hell for smoking??? Smoking is considered by bad culture, not religion.

Additionally, some of his arguments have holes in them, too ( ... )

i remember people preaching out there all the time, i don't know if it was the same guy or not, but it was entertaining at least..

you're right about the drawing a line from A to B and having a concrete argument.. but even if you bring that up, they have some other regurgitated excuse as to why they're right.. one saying that i stumbled across and has been becoming one of my favorites:

"You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into."

people just bug me sometimes..
