Quotes are the correct punctuation to use when discussing which word should be used in a sentence. They weren't there for emphasis.
I'm saying use the word "when" instead of the word "if" when considering full acceptance of gay marriage. Proper use of quotes.
Also, when discussing a slang word, it's valid to use quotes to identify it. So when I said being "out" was unheard of 100 years ago, that was also correct grammar.
So go away, Grammar Nazi, before I call the Grammar Nuremberg Commission on you.
