Author's Note: Jess Lives-verse! (This verse needs a title, does anyone have ideas? Hit me!) This one sort of took on a life of its own. Also I have no naming convention for these yet. I'm flying blind, people.

OH GOD WHAT A HEARTBREAKING FIC. I didn't expect alcoholic!Dean at all...I mean, it's just weird considering what AU this is, that none of the things that happened in the series have taken place here. But yeah, there's the genetic disposition. And it started out so cheerfully with the Russian bar plans!

There are so many heartbreaking pieces here, more than I can count (one: "He doesn't think he's hit bottom, but he does think that he almost hit his a hundred and four degree brother.") -- I like how you capture the cyclical nature to it, the false starts and stops...

I'm glad Dean finally got the right motivation -- augh, though, that it got so bad. Sam deserves such a better salary...

I definitely didn't predict this would get as sad as it did when I started. like you said, russian bars! so cheerful!

it's going to be a tough road for dean, but at least he's acknowledged there's an issue.

Augh. So, okay, since it's a 'verse, I'm going to have more questions. Sam's 23, right -- doesn't he have a degree by now? And if he does, with his brain, why doesn't he have a better, easier-to-manage-with-asthma job with a hell of a lot better salary? How long have Jess and Sam been married, and how long has Dean been living with them?

And I forgot to tell you how much I loved Jess and Dean's conversation about how much they love Sam and how lovely he is in the first section, hee. It was the best thing, seeing Dean Winchester shout the word "LOVELY!" while drunk off his ass in a bar. AND I loved Jess just coming out with the fact that John suspects his sons of sleeping together, omg, and Dean's response to that.

Have read the other comments and am intrigued by possible Sam/Jess/Dean triangles...if you go that route, I do hope there'll finally be an element of Wincest, at least acknowledged...and also I hope you confront the issue that Dean's feelings for Jess are likely rooted in how he's never had a stable female figure

hooopefully all of this will be answered in more fics, but this is Sam's 23rd birthday (at the end of this one) so Dean's been living with them for about three months at the start of this one. Sam and Jess aren't married yet, Dean just used "sister in law" as a term of endearment/simplification.

I highly doubt sam/jess/dean will ever be consummated, but absolutely it's rooted in dean's complicated feelings for sam that you know I love so very much, but, yeah, i don't think it's ever going to go full throttle wincest. i'm sorry, bb! you know I love you.

!!! I don't care what it's called, just that it's HERE AND IT'S AWESOME. Love the messed-up yet lovely dynamic between the three of them, and Dean's longing for -- what? He doesn't even really know. The drinking surprised me MUCHO and made me so happy because I'm more than wild about alcoholic!Dean, and I'm very intrigued to know more and get some backstory. Awesome blossom.
