Just one more piece of good news from work last week. I got my observation results back. The way that the district does them is that the principal fills out a form, much like a scantron form that is used to take tests in college. Not much going on really... Just finishing up what has been a busy and tiring week. My observations are finally done. I did my interview with my principal yesterday, and she complimented me on my teaching skills and commented that I had hit all the major markers on the observation sheet. So that was encouraging. I just got home to some awesome news. I submitted about four ideas to a teacher magazine, and received notice in the mail today that they are going to print two of them! This is a national magazine, and one of the most widely known. It's not a huge deal or anything - the magazine is fueled by teacher's ideas. But I'm still excited about it! They ( Read more... )

Well, Ben is officially cancer free! He had his outpatient surgery on Friday, and they were actually able to get all of the cancer out in just one try. I'm so relieved for him. He is doing well. He'll have a nasty cut with stiches beneath his eye for awhile, but definitely beats the alternative ( Read more... )

My poor Dad. Yesterday he had a doctors appointment for his usual blood work and CT scan to make sure that the cancer is not coming back. He has them about every three months, just to keep on top of things. After two bouts with cancer, you can't be too careful. Well, the CT scan came back clean. However, the blood work did not. We were making ghost suckers out of melted white chocolate the other day, and one of my students - P - thought that it smelled like cookies.
