Hmmm... not been posting much recently.

Things shouldn't be this busy outside of term time! However my lack of posting is more to do with being addicted to art and spending my lunchtimes scouring deviant art for favourites for my favourites gallery.

And here it is!! I love talking art, so if anyone would like to tell me their favourites they'd make me happy! There's also some nice ( Read more... )

We should get together sometime and talk art, much to my and Naraht's surprise I've got a very large fondness for the subject matter. She's promised to let me drag her to a gallery at some point, any interest in joining in the expedition?

I can't pick any favourites except maybe the jewelled one with the leaf, i like all the ones that are using dramatic lighting.

And in regards to the drawing, I think you are really good and plenty good enough to do something to be auctioned off. Should be a nice boost to your confidence.

Why are you and Naraht surprised? I thought your love of art was fairly common knowledge. I'd be up for art galleries, particularly if there are Medieval or pre-raphelite works :-)

Thanks for your nice words about drawing. I'm about 1/3 way through doing a small picture of Rivendell for sale. Still a reasonable chance I'll be too scared and not submit it!

I like The Tapestry of Sorrows best, unsurprisingly :), and the two by Flingling. But of course many of them are just beautiful.

Any way I could sneak into the art room to see your pictures? ;)

Interesting how our tastes coincide...

Sneak!! She's over there - look right there ;-)

Notice that you go for the watercolours. I like Flingling and Gold Seven a lot - they're probably the two artists that I've known about and been watching longest out of my list.

As for the sneaking - I don't see why not, although surprised you'd want to make the effort!

I think that 'golden summer's day' is just stunning, and 'this year's girl' is quite beautiful.

I do love a dramatic sky, but it's a difficult thing to capture, without looking overblown. Both of these do a wonderful job. The poppies against an almost yellow sky is such a bloody contrast.

This all reminds me that I need to go to the Tate Britain again. If I ran the world, the Turner pictures would be hung on the ceiling, and there would be dozens of benches in the room. It would be mandatory for all citizens to visit regularly, and on visiting, to lie on a bench and gaze at the ceiling for at least 20 minutes. This would be better than therapy.

Where've you found 'this year's girl'? I can't find that one!

Oops. It's called 'Unwritten Tale' (this year's girl being the artist's nom).

Nice to meet you at Oxenmoot! Would it be weird to friend you because you had a glorious masquerade dress?
