That was lovely. A clever way to give insight into Spike's life. It was sad, but with a hopeful note because of Angel's speech to the Powers.

Actually, I've started this a few months ago and just dropped it because it didn't sound right. Then I found it a few days ago, saved on a CD, and thought what the hell I'm going to finish it. I changed a few things, wrote the last paragraphs. Still was very doubtful about it but the thing that changed is that I dared to post it.

And I think it might be due to you and our latest conversations :)

How poignant this is. And what an original idea. It moved me so much. The duster has always been Spike's protective skin, the shell he hides his softness under. To think of him seperated from it and hurt, and to give it a voice, a voice that yearns for him, worries what will happen to him when he's been so terribly "damaged" and his vulnerability is exposed, is just wonderful.

I love Angel coming to the duster's rescue and defying the PTB to ever try to take Spike away again. You've done a great job with this. Now we need something even longer. Keep trying your wings, darling. You're starting to soar.

The first time I saw "Damaged", the only thing I could think of (apart of "shit! they're cutting just when they're bonding!") was "they didn't take the duster, did they?". Yes, I know, I'm weird ;)
