Believe it or not, but commitment #1 was used, I believe verbatim, at the wedding I attended yesterday. And, turns out the commitments/promises were lifted word-for-word from the officiator's original wedding vows from 30 some-odd years ago.

That line is used a lot in commitment ceremonies. It's the only line that we didn't write ourselves, though we tweaked the syntax a bit and then used it as a jumping off point. Our general philosophy in planning the day was to treat it like more of a commitment ceremony than a Wedding because CC's somehow seem more meaningful to me--less tradition and ceremony clouding the reason for the day.
