So, I suck at posting here, I know that. I really need to do it more but once I stopped being involved in fandom most of my posting moved to Facebook...unless I don't want family to see it anyway. So here's an update on my life for the last few months ( Read more... )

Wow. Lots of changes. Honestly, I'm glad your mom isn't at that place anymore. From what you've said in the past, her patients were treated as lesser by the rest of the hospital and that just isn't right. Hopefully she'll have people around her with the hospice.

I can't believe Jonathon is getting ready to start Uni! We really have known each other a long time. :)

I hope you can find meds that work and don't cause you so many problems. What about selling your bracelets in your Etsy store?

Honestly, dementia patients are treated as lesser at most nursing homes. Since they can't remeber what they've done they tend to be given less. This place actually was better than most. That treatment though is why my mom has always preferred memory care, she wanted to help at least some of them get treated right by somebody.

I can't believe he's getting ready to graduate either. I started babysitting him at three weeks old. I'm glad he is going though, that he isn't choosing to join the rest of his family at McDonalds. I'm also glad the school requires freshmen to live on campus, he needs to get away from that mad house.

I hope we find meds too. I'm tired of migraines, between those and the nerve pain from the herniated disc I feel like I'm spending all my time in crippling pain.

Sounds like a better or at least more interesting Thanksgiving than mine.

I'm so sorry about your aunt, but it really sounds like what y'all did is for the best. If there is anything I can do for you, please, please, please let me know.

Kathy

Sorry about your thanksgiving. It actually did go well this year. With my mom not having to be at work at three everything was less rushed.

This is all for the best with my aunt. Honestly, I thought they never should've done the trach or feeding tube. What she has now is not a life. No one should live that way.

I'm glad that your mom has a different job. The actions of her previous employers were kinda shady/shitty. I hope the new job is going well for her.

Congrats to Jonathon! University acceptances are always exciting.

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. My heart and thoughts go out to you.

*hugs*

They were. Sadly that place on the outside looked awesome. It's why she took the job there. They promised that they have a separate dementia building was to make sure they got thr attention they didn't get at other places. From what my mom has gathered from people that worked at other homes owned by that corporation, that is THEIR plan. Unfortunately the people running her specific location didn't carry through. Memory Care was horribly understaffed (because they managed to get it listed as an adult living facility not a nursing home so they are required to maintain a much smaller staff per shift), the corporation gives the entire location a certain amount of money for activities, the main building, has a weekly happy hour, dances, parties, all kinds of outings. My mom's building had enough money one month to take the patients to Sonic for sundaes. So they clearly are just given what's left after the main building plans their activities. As my mom said they don't even need a lot. Taking 20 dementia patients on outings is too hard, but ( ... )

That's a bummer that the central location got more opportunities for social and rec time and the patients with dementia were denied so much.

Yes! He most definitely deserves to have more than a manager position at McDonald's.
