Writer's Block: Six-Word Story

Aug 14, 2008 20:49

An explosion. Baby shoes all over.
"I expect you'll be all right."
Home again. Poltergeist is still here.
Facedown in a fountain, but beautiful.
How did thumbtacks get down there?
Loved. Lusted. Hated. Lusted. Loved. Killed.

Yeah, I notice how we both fixated on the babies aspect. It's because we're monsters.

Yet the icy hand held fast.

Hemingway wrote a six word story.

I shot the sheriff, not him.

Fire, smoke poured from the pistol.

"I'm a doctor, not a blacksmith!"

I think this is American haiku.

Make that "I shot the sheriff, not her."

There is no story too short to be spared editing.
