Movie reviews:
I really enjoyed the love story of this movie. The fusion of the magic with the reality was really well done. The cinematography and the CGI were both superbe. So why just 2.5 you ask.
Well, there was a flaw in the storyline I just could not get past. Try as I might.
The title of the movie is 10,000 B.C. so why in all fuck would ANYONE have domesticated horses? Especially since the horse was not domesticated as a means of transportation until at LEAST on the OUTSIDE 4,000 B.C. (almost 6,000 years later).
And then... just to make the premise a little LESS believable... the stolen tribesmen were taken to work on an Egyptian pyramid. Most likely Djoser's first steppe pyramid... as a way to explain why the first ones were scrapped.
Ok... I'm hip on that... EXCEPT IT HAPPENED AROUND 2,750 B.C.
I just ... I couldn't let it go. It ruined the whole movie for me. I mean... the fucking horses had saddles and saddle bags. SERIOUSLY?
The story was good though. And the guy was hot and the chick was sweet... and not your typical heroine. She was very realistic as a female person. I mean, she wasn't all bad ass... or all damsel in distress. She was a nice balance of capable and in need of saving.
That part worked. And it was really well acted. I loved the actors and their depictions of the characters.
But horses?
I just... I can't get past that.
