Feeling way better!

In other news... just when I think that our voters have moved past the whole race/gender issue... some freaking retard calls it a "circus" and a "sham" because it's all about a black guy and a woman.

Here I thought that them being on opposite sides sort of cancelled out the issue.

Silly me.

There are a lot more fun reasons to dislike a politician than race or gender, didn't they get the memo?

Glad you're feeling better!

yeah, but when the woman is one who as govenor, charged other women for the cost of their own rape kits.....

kinda brings the gender thing to the forefront.

And yeah, for what it's worth, my parents are grumbling the same thing "Country going to hell when we don't have anyone better to chose from than a g**dam* N-word and a wo-man!" (dad always says "wo-man" with two distinct syllables when he's being deragatory)

HA! and Mom agrees! "No normal candidate." she echoes. "They wouldn't even let Ron Paul on the ballot because they're scared of him."

gah.

Cancellation only works if we have the same number of racists as sexists. The voters who are both (and let that guide their decisions) will probably vote McCain, since the female is in the subordinate position (where she obviously belongs ^_~).

I was just being flippant before. I do think it's a shame that a lot of people (and especially the media) would attribute a McCain victory to racism - much as Bush's last win was seen as a referendum against gay marriage.

By blowing the race thing so out of proportion, it's almost as though they're trying to shame people into voting Obama - like if you don't vote Obama it MUST be because you're racist. No one seems to acknowledge that voting for someone because he's black (or, in this case, half black) is just as bad as voting for someone because he's white. The media also harps on McCain's age - why isn't that ageism?

I dunno. There are a lot of reasons to vote for or against either side. I think chalking up a win to extraneous factors like the bigot or chauvanist vote are just sour grapes.

On the same note...I wonder how the numbers balance out:

White Racists vs. Black Racists?
Male Chauvanists vs. Feminists?

That would be an interesting sociological study, especially accounting for crossovers.
