Jorb stuff...

So my unemployment technically ran out yesterday. I'm getting the emergency extension of course, but it reminded me that the clock is ticking. I'm taking a long time to do this course because I'm slow at it and it's boring so I'm not processing the information as quickly as I would for something I had a deep interest in. I am studying, it's just... ( Read more... )

ugh, Greenpeace is not what they used to be.
They use guerrilla tactics. I've worked for them before. Would suggest staying FAR away from them.

I won't even get started on PETA

It's sort of sad. When I was younger Greenpeace seemed so amazing. Now they really hurt more then they help. They put many people in danger.

As for PETA...I love animals...I have 4.
I don't wear fur. I will wear the skin of any animal if we use the entire animal
So mostly leather, but as I have eaten alligator I have less of an issue with it.
Then of course the president killing a fly...among other reactions they've had to stuff.

I agree.

I love animals too, I rescue rather then buy.

PETA is just.. insane.

I've always seen you fitting in wonderfully at Metroland.

Thank goodness for those emergency extensions ... they've been a real lifesaver.

(Yes, I'm aware I made two different comments on the same post in two different places. What of it? :) )

Planned Parenthood often needs volunteers at their clinics. And NARAL Pro-Choice New York (http://prochoiceny.org) is located in NYC, but I'd bet they sometimes have volunteer events in Albany. They're pretty big, they may actually have some staff there...

I'm not huge on Greenpeace or PETA either, but a lot of enviro groups also have local chapters or affiliates that probably have volunteer opportunities or part-time internships. I know Sierra Club and Audubon Society have local groups, and I'm sure others do as well.

I am not a fan of Greenpeace or PETA either. The one thing I suggest is to talk to someone at these places every so often to see if they are hiring and for what position. Sometimes checking in every so often lets these people know you are interested in a job there and they remember things like that. Good luck....
