Ok so sEvEral of us have been scratching our hEads trying to recall when the was E-Group officially formed. That is, not when we all became friends because those are various different years; but when we started the E-naming tradition, etc.

I dug through a diary I kept from 1999-2004. I FOUND THE ENTRY that is dated the night AFTER the infamous " ( Read more... )

Damn -- if I use '02, it looks like I don't count, 'cause I was gone by then. :( Then again, if one wanted to go another way, the seeds of the group were really planted in either '98 (when I met Lilly and Deb) or '99 (when the '03 Devils came to Sage).

Mindy of course you count, we're just talking the foundation date, not when all of us were inductEd, and I believe you were "inductEd" that year because you came for the English Dinners, remember? That's how I met you! :-P

... But we'd still be talking '02 then. Right? (Though I didn't go to any department dinners in '02, obviously. So... I'm confused.)

Hm. I don't feel like I'm any closer to the elusive 14-character answer.

On the stone I still think "2001 and beyond" rather than 2002. I can make several arguments for other dates between January 2000 & 2003... but stating 2001 makes the most sense because the majority of those from Sage were at Sage at the same time then, 2001 includes "the first angels class" and 2001 is when we really cemented as a group of friends beyond simply having classes or a building in common.

That's my opinion, but then again, I don't use Shannon's shenanigans as THE defining start anyway... perhaps because I met everyone other than Caren on my own ???

That said, I'm glad you found the date of Shannon's nickname. But One does not a group make... so when were the next few nicknames given... 'cause I"m curious

From what I remember, Lilly, Shannon, Sarah, and I were at the Ruck one night. We were joking around about Shannon's "incident", Lilly making lots of puns involving her mouth, and Lilly called her Lippy. It was cold that evening and Sarah was wearing a tight tank top and her nipples were showing. She jokingly got called Nippy. From there we were like, well what would you call me? We should all get nicknames! And it snowballed from there back to French House and before I knew it we all had a name and were calling ourselves the E Group.
