This semester I will very likely be reading Ringworld on my very own weekly radio show.
This semester I'm taking my radio workshop, which means I have to work on the production side of a radio show.
I decided that it might be cool to do a chapter-a-day (more like chapter-a-week, but still) kind of show. I had in mind something dealing with sci-fi, that I could read/produce in advance and then just play at the radio station while I sat and did homework.
Both the instructor in charge of the station and the program director thought it was a neat idea, but they noted that I would need to get permission to use anything that wasn't public domain, i.e. anything published after 1928.
After three weeks of trying to find the right person, I am one final step away from having permission to produce Larry Niven's Ringworld as a chapter-a-week radio show for the campus radio station. I spoke to the proper person, she had me fax my request direct to her, and she should be back to me by the 10th. Which is good, because the semester starts on the 29th, and I'd like to at least have the first episode recorded when I make the pitch on the 31st.
I hope it turns out as cool in reality as it is in my head...
