Most little girls put themselves into fairy tales and hope that one day they'll find their prince. I put myself into music. I still do. When I couldn't speak, music could do it for me. When I was nine or so I discovered this song on a record that my parents had and I fell in love with the story it told and with Running Bear and Little White Dove. ( Read more... )

I remember that song, it was on a record I had when I was a kid in the 70's. I've always had a soft spot for it. Nostalgic entry - thanks!

I adored that record. Apparently several different people sang the song though and I have no idea which version I listened to. I'm glad you had a sof spot for the song and enjoyed the entry.

It also had
Mr Custer and the Tennessee bird walk among others.

I love that song so much, I had no idea Tom Jones wrote it, though. Likewise, I can still hear it as plain as day. Lovely entry!

Wikipedia informs me that it was The Big Bopper, and that might explain the deeper voice?
