WIPs of the hour

I'm juggling three WIPs right now. Two of them are right at the beginning, while the third is a little ways in. I so rarely talk about the WIPs on here (actually, these days I so rarely post anyway), but these feel pretty settled and I think they're all ready to be written so I'm just going to talk a little about them.

A Cautionary Tale: Or, How I Fell in Love With My Husband--Novella (I hope, at least). Archmage Kourshida's eldest daughter is getting married tomorrow, and she must warn her daughter about an old family enemy. But she's easily distracted in her advanced age, and the story of the evil she faced as a young woman becomes intertwined with the story of her growing relationship with the husband chosen for her by that very same enemy.

Untitled--Novel. Marzai is finally old enough to join the elite warrior band that saved his village from raiders when he was a child. Sworn to protect the weak, he begins his difficult new life as a fighter. But when war breaks out, he is faced with a choice between his old loyalties and his oath to protect those who cannot protect themselves, even when they are his enemies.

Rustukaal--Novel I'm picking up again after some time away from it. Enslaved as a child by subterranean goblins, Alia has a secret ally: a mysterious goblin who made a bargain with her before vanishing into the tunnels. Now he has returned, and Alia realizes that the friend she fantasized about is really an enemy, searching for a mysterious magical artifact. Alia must choose: protect the system that has kept her a slave, or follow the first friend she can remember into certain doom?

So there we go. Those are what I'll be working on these days.
