Here is something to consider in the sentencing of Saddam (without saying one way or the other anything about the death penalty system itself)... The sentence automatically goes to a 9 member panel on appeal. His sentence is stayed until the panel makes a decision. The panel does not have a set time frame to make the decision in. Once the decision is upheld by the panel, his sentence would be carried out within 30 days. HOWEVER... Other cases like this have had people in this appeal process for years and years, until they die in prison. I don't think he'll be executed. I think they'll not make a decision until it becomes a moot point.
To tell the truth I've been watching a lot of the new Battlestar Galactica lately and it just seem to be enforcing the futility of war and killing each other.
