Cars in the UK, the speedometers use kilometers, the odometers use miles.

In Ireland, some of the street signs used miles and some used kilometers. You had to guess which was which based on the age of the sign or geographic intuition.

That kind of makes sense. I remember back in the day on the NY Thruway, I think it was around Utica, where the signs leading up to one exit was done in kilometers. I always found that funny, til they removed it. It was sad to see the metric system die another death.

But in the same car? Why not have the Odometer also measure in kilometers? It just does not make sense.
