So, I’m pretty disappointed in my Laptop right now. I mean, I kind of knew that I wouldn’t be able to play many PC games on it, especially nothing new, but I didn’t expect to have problems running games that are 10 years old or so. Or, hell, even games that I could play on my crappy older desktop PC...

Weird that Half Life was telling you to go piss up a rope. Are you using the non-Steam version?

For Quake, which sourceport are you using for it? Don't say Quake.exe or I'll be forced to climb through the internet and punch you :(

For Half-Life, I'm using the steam version (steamid: Shapermc). Same with quake! Actually, I can get HL1 itself to run fairly well (though it's still not steady at 60fps), it's actually trying shit like Day of Defeat that gives me the problems. My laptop is a Vaio K45 (yeah, sony's shit) and I have an ATI 345m chipset. I'm pretty much at a loss here.
