so, this is not directed at anyone in particular, especially you...it's just how I feel about it.

so, lately I have had several people let me know how dumb it is to get upset over people smoking. this has been a constant point of conflict between me and my friends. I would just like to explain myself a bit better than just saying that I don't like it ( Read more... )

I have so much respect for you, Megan.

Even though I know I've smoked a couple of times, I don't agree with it. It's mainly the stupid peer pressure that got me to do it. However, I don't do it anymore. I get on my parents' case all the time about it. They've been smoking for most of their lives because they both started at such a young age. It really & truly does upset me when I see people I love smoke.

my stance on smoking does not come from a fear of you becoming addicted. it comes from me not liking the idea of smoking, socially or not. the accounts I gave about my personal experience with the long-term effects of smoking on the human body were merely examples of bad things that can come from smoking, not reasons for my viewpoint. addicted or not, whenever I see someone smoking (cigar/cigarette) it makes me want to cry. It's not because I'm afraid of what could happen long term (although the effects are not good), it's simply because it does. I don't like it at all. (and yes, sugar can do awful things to the body, but that's not justification for smoking. just because everyone does one thing that's unhealthy is not reason to add on another thing). and smoking in my mind does not imply a habit or addiction, it simply implies that you smoked...once, or twice, or five times a day, it doesn't matter. I hate it just as much every time ( ... )

Muchos Kudos to you Moo-Shoo!

I support your opinion with a shotgun and a whip (apa: i agree)
I have have a grandmother who has smoked her whole life and is currently undergoing the final phases of chemotheropy.
For the longest time, she wouldn't give it up... even after being diagnosed with lung cancer. I feel what you're sayin...

Kudos Megan... many, many Kudos

thank you daniel. I just hope that everyone understands that contrary to seemingly popular opinion, this entry is not directed at one or even two events, it is directed at a lifetime of distaste for tobacco caused by no single person or event and therefore my anger is not directed at one person, nor at really any person...just at the action itself. NOR is this because of the bad effects smoking can have on the body because I know there is a wide range of things which can have the same effects.

I hope that everyone understands this. and thank you tyler for proving that you do. I'm glad you have not misinterpreted my message.

(p.s. this was not meant to condemn anyone, just meant to rant.)
