I've only seen the movie. I've been wanting to read the book, though, for some time now but haven't had the chance. The movie, however, was filmed in Brooklyn (some of it, at least) and the house they used in the movie is right across the street from my uncle's brother's house. I saw it on my trip to NYC / Brooklyn back in the 7th grade. I had dinner at my uncle's brother's house our first night and we sat on the porch while he told us stories about it and stuff. It was awesome.
