...their pet theory about Bran being the Night King...
There was a moment, just before Arya attacked, when I actually thought the Night King might 'bend the knee' to Bran -- wouldn't that have been a twist?!
I often wonder what fanboys use for brains. (Though I think I know).
I was sad to see Jorah go, too (and I don't think shipping him and Dany is squicky at all but, then, I'm old enough to remember when an age gap of more than a couple of days wasn't considered abusive). At least he got to see how distraught Dany was, how much she'd finally come to care for him. The main worry, as you say, is that he'd become the only one able to hold her in check, but I wonder if the task will now fall to Jon -- like Jaime with Brienne, she's a better person when she's with Jon. It might be a war between her ambition and her (genuine, I think) feelings for him.
I wonder if some of the Dothraki will come straggling back next episode?

I had the same thought. The Look between them appeared like it might have some significance but ultimately it didn't.

Heh! There is that. I've 'shipped them from the start. There was even a community for the 'ship here on LJ. But I knew even then it would never come to anything.

On the other hand, we still don't really know how she feels about Jon's big revelation of episode 2, because there was no time to really go into it before the battle. Speaking of which, it was plain Jon tried to look out for
( ... )
I think it's possible that we haven't seen the last of the Night King & White Walkers -- either something may have survived (scary!), or something about their existence/their destruction may still have consequences -- and Bran may still have a part to play... His warging into the ravens looked pointless, but who knows...?
I agree Bran's decision to warg off like that was rather odd if it ends up not meaning anything. I'm also remembering that scene in whichever season it was when the Night King made a White Walker out of a human baby. Maybe that will be how it all ends, with that baby as the new Night King?
First of all the military strategy was completely wrong: sending a light chivalry in front of the enemy like that, without knowing the enemy position and numbers, killed the mood right from the start. I liked GoT because it was sort of accurate about these details at first, I hate this sloppy writing.
I also hate how they basically ignored the whole Azor Ahai prophecy. Arya is one of my favorite characters, I like her SO MUCH, but I can see how the books and the show were going for Jon as the Prince that was Promised and I'm disappointed they ignored it for the sake of a cheap twist. So now what we have to think? The Prophecy was all bs? Is Melisandre knew about Arya killing the NK, why she supported Stannis first and then Jon Snow? Why was so important to resurrect Jon and to have him meet Daenerys? It seems nonsense at this point.
And I was hoping for a badass dialogue between the Night King and Bran, being finally face to face and everything, but nope. Not even that.

Well, according to the 'about the episode' piece afterwards, the plan was to send the Dothraki cavalry forward to test the enemy's strength. However, the plan was to hold fast after that and not start using the dragons until the enemy was in sight. But Dany couldn't bear to see the Dothraki get slaughtered and not help them, so she ruined the plan.
I'm not sure that makes better sense of it, but still.
As for all the prophecy stuff, have to say I personally don't care about any of it, so how it all fell out didn't bother me. Sorry if it disappointed you, though.
Right before Arya arrived to kill the knight king, I thought some how (maybe mystically), Brad was going to kill the knight king.
I thought that too. Or at least that one or the other of them would say, "We meet at last." The look they exchanged had 'significant' written all over it.
My heart was ripped out - huge Theon lover here. Been thinking and writing endlessly about this character with other fans in other forums for 4 years now and we're all in serious mourning.
I know several people saw this death as a proper ending for him, and from the character's perspective, I suppose it was. It still hurts like a bitch, and I have zero interest in watching the rest of the show right now. There aren't any good actors left in my opinion except for Lena Headey (yeah, I'm not a big fan of Peter Dinklage's work, sorry) and the upcoming political and romantical stories aren't interesting to me anymore. Despite the fact that I used to love that it wasn't a typical fantasy show, I felt it was extremely anticlimactic and too easy to end the Night King and his Army of the Dead in episode 3.
I'm sorry you were disappointed. I did feel quite detached from it all emotionally, despite the fact that I've 'shipped Dany and Jorah right from season 1. Maybe it was knowing it would never come to anything, or just that the hiatus was too long.

I was sad about Lyanna Mormont's death, she was alway fun to watch.

And it may still mean something, I suppose.

And I tend to think it is very Lord of the Rings, which also ends on the Hobbits throwing out Saruman, Franco of the Shire.

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks.
