I did all of that. I have my public interest resume - with all the volunteering highlighted, with a cover letter that talks about these jobs, with the fact that i left work for this reason. Nothing.

I did that. I met with the Legal Aid's supervisor of law guardians, who said - put his name on the cover letter, and he will make sure that they will at least call me for an interview and will put in a good word for me. Nothing.
I talked to my supervisor at the volunteer place. She gave me a list of places to apply, and said put her name down as a reference - nothing.
I talked to a professor who specializes in children's law, and she told me where to apply - nothing.

sucks!

keep trying, maybe something will come out of it. Email all your profs, asking them if they've heard of an opportunity?

Go to your schools alum database and see if any of them work in the charities you are interested in?

That's a great idea, thank you. I have talked to a couple of alums, but there are definetely more.

I'm interviewing with federal judges now - and that's brutal on its own, we'll see where that takes me.

So the federal judges called me - and they are significantly more competitive than state, but the family law judges who deal with abused children, to whom I applied first, specifically detailing about why I want to do this - nothing.
