Apparently I'm Nano-cursed.
In 2005, I wrote Pastcrafters, my story of a time travel adventure company. In December of that year, I found
Foop! In 2007, I wrote Showdown, my silly super hero romp. Today, I found
Soon I Will Be Invincible. Apparently I am almost exactly one month behind in my bookstore browsing than I should be.

Note that you have an easy way to describe your stories because they are familiar genres. Foop! and Soon I Will Be Invincible are not the first of their kind, not will your stories be the last.
Yours only has to be better. If these novels were really popular, yours wouldn't even have to be better, just mediocre. (Think of all the "spellcasting school" books that have come out in the wake of Harry Potter. Do their authors care that JKRowling got there first? Certainly not! In fact, their stuff might not have sold, or at least not nearly as well, if she hadn't paved the road.)
Think of it this way:
These other novels have proved that there's a market for your work. So edit away and add at least 30K words (unless you're going YA/MG), and send these off somewhere!
