Karen, the man is teaching business. Business in this
country is conducted in the capitalist system. I find
his polical attitude better in a business class than
in a history class or a political science class or
even an English class. Is it better to have a
blatantly liberal slant? Love, Gramma

Grandma,

I think that whatever bias a teacher has is better out in the open than subtle because it is easier for students to be aware of what they are being taught.

Karen,
I am so very thankful you had the opportunity to study formal debate as a teenager. You learned to make a habit of learning both sides of an argument and figure out all the pros and cons of both sides. You were required to defend whichever side of the resolution you were given. Few people have been so well-disciplined in their thinking process. Few people have learned to vet the sources of the information they are receiving or using. Being in the debate club has paid off handsomely for you because you can think and reason and call a spade a spade. I am very proud of you.
